Happy Shark Week!
by
Dean Burkey

No matter how frightening
the the Discovery Channel’s sharks are
during Shark Week
just keep telling yourself:
“It’s only a documentary.
It’s only a documentary.

If you want to feel close to someone,
share a shark cage off the Great Barrier reef.
Nothing helps people bond better
than the threat of imminent death.
Or chocolate.

A shark without a dorsal fin

wouldn’t be able to control where he swims,
but he’d be a lot better at sneaking up on people.

Did you know that porcupines float in water? *
How odd is that?
If you’re on a sinking boat with a porcupine,
what are you going to do?
Do I want to get poked?
Or do I want to drown?
If I get poked and bleed,
they’ll be sharks all around.
Why couldn’t a floating animal be something cuddly?
Like a pillow-otamus.

or anyone you love.

Q: What did the shark plead in the murder case?
A: Not gill-ty!

I saw a man at the beach screaming, Help, shark, help!
I laughed because I knew
the shark wasnt going to help him.

Dean Burkey:
Okay, I’ll go into the shark tank.
But first, I’ll need  a suit of armor
and a pair of Depends.

I wanna make a TV show about three surfers and a shark.
It’s gonna be called “Two and a Half Men”.

If a boatload of pot ever sank
and got eaten by sharks,
that bad case of the munchies could cause those sharks
to cut a beach city’s population in half!
I dont want to insult the man,
so let me just say that he’s a swell guy and all that,
but he’s not the sharpest shark at the feeding frenzy.

More Sharknado 2:
The Second One Fun

Check out my previous posts:

The best way to avoid a shark attack, as Johnny Carson once said, is to stay in Kansas.

But then again, in Kansas, youre in danger of being plagued by a Snakenado.

Or even a Gophernado

Although tonight marks the second time in less than a week that a Sharknado hit New York City, such events are typically quite rare.

Most marine biologists and meteorologists alike say a Sharknado could never happen, but they also claim global warming’s responsible for cooler temperatures and often say it’s going to be sunny when it isn’t.

Besides, my uncle died in a Whalicane

(A Whale-Hurricane is similar to a Sharknado; only the winds are much more intense; and the man-eating sea creatures are mammals, not fish, so it actually makes a lot more sense. Well, more sense than pet rocks; and everybody bought into those!)

Yes, sadly, I saw Uncle Morty get smacked in the head by a whale’s tail, but everyone says it was a fluke

The Shark Hits the Fan Again

Sharknado 2: "Castnado" Behind the Scenes | Syfy

Published on Jul 3, 2014 by

Check out my previous post:

Relive The Magic and Awe! The Tragic and Saw! (Chainsaw, that is.) Or watch it all for the first time, if you missed the premiere on July 30. Sharknado 2: The Second One rages upon New York City again, this Saturday, August 2, 2014 C.E. at 7 pm (Eastern) on the Syfy Channel!

This Saturday
Now this shirt makes sense:

I haven’t seen this phenomenon myself yet, because I promised some close friends we’d watch it together this weekend. We had so much fun watching the first one together that I didn’t want to ruin it by seeing it without them.

And I don’t have cable. Crazy I know. Maybe that’s why I blog.

Sharknado 2: The Second One must have been an amazing thrill ride though, because word on the street, or rather, word on the tweet, is #Sharknado2TheSecondOne garnered over a billion tweets!

Which is awesome, but sadly, I think that’s more than World Peace. Maybe if Ellen would promote World Peace during the next Oscars.

The Second One also skewered more viewers than Halle Berry’s show Extant. Which just goes to show you that categorically speaking, sawing airborne man-eating sharks in half is way cooler than giving birth to a space alien’s baby.

Um, no offense to any space alien babies. Or the lovers thereof. And you know who you are!
