Heaven-Bent HUMOR: The DEAN Adventures Is FREE August 22-26, 2014

Heaven-Bent HUMOR: The DEAN Adventures

Wouldn’t You Rather Have Your Humor Be Heaven-Bent Than Bent The Other Way

Whether Dean backpacks with Bigfoot in Bermuda, time-travels with movie stars, or inadvertently destroys worlds beyond ours, this guy knows how to have fun! Enjoy his crazy, quite possibly insane, adventures!

What will Dean do with the billions he makes by his books? Find out inside! And encourage billions of others to do so too. Especially if they buy them all and pay full price!

Inventive, funny, suspenseful, each story provides a mini-vacation away from the burdens of your day. So get your ticket to fun now; and start reading. Destination: Comedy! Full of new funny jokes and guaranteed to make you laugh.*

Before you buy this book, take a Look Inside!

Check out the Table of Contents! The actual “adventures” don’t start until “The Perfect Plan: Foiled!” (or “Spice Boy”, or “My O.B.E.”, depending on how you define adventure). We included a few “non-adventurous” pieces to lay the groundwork for the adventures, or because they related somehow, or we just thought they were funny. Or simply to pad the book to make it look more impressive!

Although most of these crazy, intrepid, and entertaining tales stand alone, they still tie together to build to a shock ending.

Snippets

Proof that this is a work of fiction: I did not put peanut butter on the brownies. If you see me eating a brownie without first applying peanut butter, that is not me, but an evil clone, an alien cyborg, or a shape-shifter who must be destroyed! Or given a jar of peanut butter.

Don’t forget to wrap your head in aluminum foil too, so those intergalactic fiends can’t read your mind. Otherwise, no one else in the field of extra-terrestrial relations will take you seriously.
The pinwheel hat is optional.

My secret sources on this matter are uncharacteristically convoluted and unclear about the exact details. But why would somebody post something on the Internet, if it’s not true?

The “handsomest” of them resembled Bigfoot. Only with ZZ Top beards and a Snidely Whiplash mustache. Strange race indeed.
And that was just their women!

I don’t want to be remembered for that! Instead, remember me for my sense of humor, thoughtfulness, and great legs. Best of all would be being remembered for being Rachel Bilson’s trophy husband!

They had the dumbest entertainment too! Some dude in a designer pinstriped suit waved a pocket watch back and forth while chanting repeatedly: “You will do as I say. You will do as I say.”

Never thought I’d wind up in jail.
An asylum? Sure. It’s a such crazy world, you’d be nuts not to go insane.

Don’t fall in love with a psycho; she’ll only break your heart. Or cut it out and feed it to the pigeons.

I’m too exciting for most women. The majority of them want someone boring. It’s true. Their date ads say they don’t want men who play games.
But I say, what’s wrong with Pictionary?
It’s like charades on paper!

Good times to be sure. But if Andy Warhol’s words are true, about each person getting his/her own 15 minutes of fame, I’ve still got another 14 minutes and 57 seconds coming!

She couldn’t afford a coffin or a burial plot,

The weird thing is,

Since Bigfoot and I had so much fun

we decided to go camping.
Sadly, many campground owners are raving species-ists.
They don’t allow “animals” to stay at their campgrounds.
More sadly, um, sadliericious,
they think of Bigfoot as an animal and not a hairy uncle.

Why Some Kindle Authors Make Their Books Available for FREE

Why Some Kindle Authors
Make Their Books
Available for FREE
by

For instance, purely as an example and/or a shameless plug, Heaven-Bent HUMOR: The DEAN Adventures Is FREE August 22-26, 2014:

Wouldnt-Rather-ebook/dp/B00CDGV9Q8

So why in the world do some Kindle authors make their books available for FREE? Have they been overly medicated during troubling times? Were they conked on the head with a jumbo-sized candy cane and now they think they're Santa Claus? Or, Stan Lee-style, were they bitten by a radioactive generous person?

The most common reason Kindle authors make their books available for FREE is to accrue as many "sales" as possible. Although we don't get paid for the "sale" of FREE books, we get recognition for them in the Amazon system. So much so that a book with 10,000 copies given away may rank higher than a book that has actually sold 9,000 paid copies. (Other factors affect ranking, but I think a FREE "sale" does count as much as a paid sale.)

So that's  why, technically, it doesn't even "matter" if you even read the FREE book. At least in a business sense. But being writers, of course we want you to read our work. So much so that a FREE book can be considered a sample of our style, so that you'll be more likely to come back and buy our other books.

So yes, we want our books to rank higher; and we want to be read. But also, the ideal scenario is to garner a slew of 5-Star Reviews. That's a major goal for all writers. Not only to bolster our fragile egos, but to increase our ranking even higher and to help us make "real" sales. I.e., to get paid. Because 5-Star Reviews give an author "street cred".

Another goal, not used by all writers, is to get sales via embedded affiliate links within the book. Which works better when using relevant products with nonfiction books.

Some writers offer a Freebie inside their books too, but the only way you can get that Freebie is to visit their page and submit your email address. I've never done that yet, but it's a viable way to build a list of people interested in what one has to offer. And when you have a new book coming out, you can email them to let them know.

I suppose that another reason, for some writers, might be to generate good "Karma" by offering one's work for FREE. By doing so, such authors expect The Universe to pay them back in other ways. Like a bunch of paid sales. And/or a mega-hot trophy spouse.

Those are the main goals that I can think of as to why Kindle authors make their books available for FREE. But another reason why I'm making this particular book available for FREE is to help promote my blog Heaven-Bent HUMOR

Please Note
I admit the following comedy sketch is way too long!
But we were making a show
where we needed to fill up lots of time,
so that's what I did.
It's still funny, possibly even hilarious,
so the long setup does lead
to a fun and funny ending for the last two minutes.
Plus there are lots of jokes before then too.
Please Enjoy!

More Excerpts from
Heaven-Bent HUMOR: The DEAN Adventures:

There are two things you need to know about me,
two very important things:
One, I always mean well.
Two, most of what I say is meant to be funny.
And three, sometimes I say more than I should.
_______

My friends worry about me
when we watch superhero movies.
‘Cause afterwards, I’ll say, “That was fun.
But that’s not how it really happened.”
_______

Aquaman in the desert
won’t do anyone any good.
Especially himself.
In fact, he’ll just get on everyone else’s nerves.
More so than he already does with his
stinking up the Hall of Justice with his fish odors.
Eau de Phish is not a big-selling cologne.
And Water Boy’s always leaving
inexplicable puddles all over the place.
_______

Sure, she’s a little high strung.
But we always made each other laugh.
I mean, when she wasn’t trying to kill me.
_______

The people bowed before Elvis, but yanked me away.
Elvis marched after me, quickly, but with quiet dignity.
Seems like he really is a king. And I’m really lunch!
The natives led me to a boiling pot, ripped off my clothes, and held me down to decapitate me with a machete.
“Um, Elvis? If you’re not too busy, could you, um, take a moment out of your hectic day; and please, please, please, HELP!!!!!!!
_______

My life flashed before my eyes as my head and upper torso fell into the shark’s mouth. I remembered the fun I had time-traveling. I regretted not being able to make Jennifer Lawrence the happiest woman in the world.
Or her and a friend.
If her friend was named Carly Rae.
Other than that, I already planned the perfect last day of my life, so I was ready to check out. I just didn’t want to. Not through the intestinal tract of an overgrown guppy with fangs.

Please Note:
You need to turn the volume
all the way up lot for this one!
This one was written by Richard Eldridge,
but I added a funny line or two as well. ;o)

Unfortunately, Fargon Is Now Far Gone

Unfortunately,
Fargon Is Now Far Gone

Photo Source: Blue Spheres by Luis Robles

Why did I think I could be a superhero

Because I can teleport between dimensions with the greatest of ease, unlike mere mortal men, who often have difficulty just setting their DVRs to record their favorite shows and sporting events?

And let’s face it, I look great in Spandex.

Especially the mask.

Although the cape adds a certain flare too.

But still.  I inadvertently caused the death of everyone in the Fargon dimension.

Fortunately, not many people know, or rather, knew about that dimension, so my destroying an entire universe doesn’t get me into trouble.

Governments can’t govern that about which they do not know.

For the most part anyway.

So technically, I’m free and clear.

But I can’t say I’m unpunished.

Not when the cries of billions of gadflies still buzz in my ears.

The look of horror on the faces of those semi-translucent beings as the fabric of their realm ripped apart still frightens me too.

Just this morning, I felt so grieved, I couldnt eat a third helping of waffles.

Not to mention that one of the Fargonians borrowed ten bucks.

I’ll never see that money again.

Although haunting, horrifying, and tragic, to an extent, it all seems so silly too.

I hadn’t even planned on visiting the Fargon dimension. Why would anyone want to go there? They make annoying sounds. Their women don’t look like females from any species worth noting. And they don’t have chocolate.

I carefully set my teleportation device to the Oolala dimension, where even the amoebas look supermodels.

A glorious realm where the most attractive of these gorgeous creatures always welcomes a visit from Captain Teleporting Dude.

(Me.)

A universe where lipstick and clothing, even sun visors, are all made out of chocolate.

Unfortunately, a speck of dust. A seemingly insignificant speck of dust. Altered my coordinates ever so slightly, sending me to Fargon instead of Oolala.

Of course, I was still greeted as a hero.

If you saw my cape, you’d understand.

The ruling regime of Fargon took me to their Science Council, where they showed me the heart of their galactic system.

Compared to Oolala, and even our own universe, their best scientific achievements came across as Tinker Toys.

So I tried to feign interest.

I really did.

But all I could think about was getting to Oolala.

The Fargon Science Chief went on and on about blah, blah, blah, self-destruct mechanism, blah, blah, blah, want a sandwich?, blah, blah, blah, bleh!

I accidentally bit into a Fargon sandwich.

I forgot that in their universe, their idea of candy is a raw anchovy.

I tried not to be rude as I purged the bite of sandwich I accidentally swallowed.

Trying to be less rude, I acted interested in the weird device they showed me and asked, “What does this button do?”

I then pressed the button, which wound up making the Fargon dimension far gone.

Of course, I teleported away as quickly as I could.

I knew I’d never find a decent breath mint in that universe.

And I still wanted to travel to Oolala.

Personally, I blame the Fargonians.

Who makes a Self-Destruct Mechanism for their whole dimension?

And why in the world, any world, would you show the visitor to your realm, the self-destruct button, right after giving said visitor a horrible sandwich?!

Still, I must question my pursuit of being a superhero.

Am I just in the hero game for the fun trips to Oolala?

Or do I really want to help others, to make a positive difference?

Hmm.  In deep, deep thought, I ponder that question as I feverishly dust my teleportation device.

Blessings & Joy,

Please Note:
The following video is silly and not worth watching.
Which raises the question:
Why did I include it in this blog post?
Well, ... I wanted to have something ...

Its far too late to help
the formerly fine folks of the Fargon dimension,
but you can still help the fellow beings in our dimension
whose lives are at stake.

Please be a better superhero than I.
And dont let these poor people die.

Dear Supermodels

Dear Supermodels

You’re attractive, to be sure.

Duh! That’s how you got to be supermodels

But being around mega-gorgeous women all the time, I find myself (my soul, even my heart and mind, and yes, even my body) needing something beyond beauty.

Something unseen.

The gorgeousness of the inside person.

I know what it’s like to be gawked at all the time.

Sure, it was fun at first. But after a while, you get tired of saying, “Excuse me? My eyes are up here.”

Sometimes, just to break the boredom, I’ll mix things up a bit and say: “My chin’s up here.”

Or, “My ears are up here.”

Or even, “My kneecaps are down here.”

Sure, people laugh, but only because I use humor to mask the pain of being treated like a piece of meat.

A handsome*, sexy, piece of prime grade A meat to be sure.

But a piece of meat, just the same.

And if my stunning good looks didn’t make me awesome enough, God blessed me with a sense of humor too!

Which you use to flatter me and manipulate my feelings with ferocity.

But, dear supermodels, and whoever else might be eavesdropping on my private message to supermodels …
If you repeat the same laugh for every joke, that negates any laugh for any joke.

Like you just make the same sound whenever I pause.

And yes, I pause after the punchline. That’s how we comics do it.

That’s rule number three in the Comedian Handbook: Pause after the punchline.

But if your laughter resounds just as heartily for a simple joke as for a hilarious joke, that makes me think you don’t get any of my jokes.

And if you don’t get me, you won’t get me.

Got it?

Looks aren’t that big a deal. Your inner beauty’s more important than your outward appearance.

I used to meet people less attractive than me who were much better at relationships.

(Of course, that’s easy to say, because I can’t find anyone less attractive than me!)

But I learned to build my inner character too.

(With all my great looks*, if it weren’t my humility and modesty, I might be a real stinker.)

My point is: Your looks are your ante to get into the game. But if that’s the only hand you have, you won’t play the game for long.

If you look hot, but pout that you don’t, then you’re an idiot.

If you’re gorgeous; and you use your looks as a weapon, then you’re mean, but at least you’re not an idiot.

Unless you use your looks as a weapon and pout that you aren’t good-looking, then you’re just a mean idiot.

So not what I’m looking for.

I’m not saying: You should stop being mega-gorgeous.

Go with what youre good at. Play to your strengths.

But I am saying: You should improve your fake laughter.

Or better yet, actually enjoy my jokes.

Believe it or not, sometimes I toss out fake “jokes” (a.k.a. Decoy Jokes) just to see if people are being “polite” (that’s the polite way of putting it) and laughing at everything I say, or really laughing at what’s really funny.

So please, dear supermodels, really listen to what I say.

After all, I really listen to you.

Well, at the very least, I watch

* I’m so handsome and great-looking, because I’m real. Really I am. All those guys and gals that you think are better looking than me are really Reptilian Shape-Shifters from another planet and/or The Inner Earth. And besides being undeniably mega-gorgeous, hilarious, and super modest, I also have a heart of gold. May be pyrite, but at least I mean well. Mostly well. Oh, well. ...
