Remember The Laughter As We Remember Robin Williams

I'm stunned. Astonished to the core. Just last night, I turned on the TV around 8:40 to watch the rest of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" on the CW. During commercials, I switched to ME TV, so I could hit the last channel button at 9 pm to watch "Hogan's Heroes". But then I saw that the episode of "Happy Days" airing then was the one with Robin Williams as Mork from Ork (Season 5, Episode 22: "My Favorite Orkan"), so I stayed on that channel to watch the rest of that episode. And then, early this morning, I saw a notice on Facebook that said: "Actor Robin Williams dies at 63". How shocking. how sad. But since Robin was one of the greatest comedians of all time, let's not focus on the sorrow, instead, let's ...

Remembering Rodney Dangerfield

Remembering

November 22, 1921 – October 5, 2004

Most people who aren't comedians, and maybe even many comedians today, don't realize what a great man Rodney Dangerfield was.

Born Jacob Cohen, he changed his name to Jack Roy, became a comedy writer in his teens, and began to perform at age 19.

After about a decade of struggling, he took a job selling aluminum siding.

Over a decade later, he adopted a name used by Jack Benny for one of his characters to use as his stage name:

With a head full of one-liners and a heart of gold, once he achieved his dream, Rodney opened his own club and worked hard to help other comics achieve theirs too. He gave a lot of famous comics their start.

Dangerfield knew how hard it had been for himself to make it in comedy, so he helped others get their start. That's what I call a totally topnotch dude.

Funny to the end, and beyond,
even his grave marker gets a laugh:

Dean
