Divergent
On Blu-Ray Today

Divergent, the first book from Veronica Roth’s trilogy was recently made into a popular movie, which is now available on Blu-Ray and DVD today. Can also be rented and/or bought at Amazon Instant Video

The Description of the Movie
on the Amazon Instant Video page says:

Divergent is a thrilling action-adventure film set in a world where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group.

That brief description leaves out a lot! Beatrice/Tris Prior is warned that she’s Divergent; and if anyone else finds out about that, she will be killed. Which is way more intense than just not fitting into a particular group. I enjoyed this movie so much that I read the whole trilogy, because I couldnt wait for the other movies to come out to see what happens next.

Where the book and the movie diverge, the book excelled in literary ways; the film in cinematic ways. Each form playing to its particular strengths. Shailene Woodley performs an impeccable portrayal of the tremendous transformation of a timid Abnegation girl into a courageous Dauntless young woman. From zeroine to heroine

The Neil Burger film also stars/features Theo James as Four; Ashley Judd as Natalie; Jai Courtney as Eric; Zoë Kravitz as Christina; Ansel Elgort as Caleb; Maggie Q as Tori; and Kate Winslet as the charming, yet villainous, Jeanine.

Movie Quotes from IMDB.com

Eric: You fight until one of you cant anymore.
Four: Or until one of you concedes.
Eric: A brave man never backs down.
Four: Lucky for you, that wasnt a rule when we fought.

Four: You all right?
Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior: You cut me.
Four: I meant to.
Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior: You meant to?
Four: You think hes going to let you off without a scratch? Youd still be standing there if I hadnt hit you.
Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior: So am I supposed to thank you?
Four: Youre supposed to be smart. If I wanted to hurt you, I wouldve.

Peter: You wouldnt shoot me.
Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior: Why do people keep saying that?

Jeanine Matthews: Maybe youre not as Dauntless as you think you are.
Beatrice Tris Prior: No. Im Divergent.

More Sharknado 2:
The Second One Fun

Check out my previous posts:

The best way to avoid a shark attack, as Johnny Carson once said, is to stay in Kansas.

But then again, in Kansas, youre in danger of being plagued by a Snakenado.

Or even a Gophernado

Although tonight marks the second time in less than a week that a Sharknado hit New York City, such events are typically quite rare.

Most marine biologists and meteorologists alike say a Sharknado could never happen, but they also claim global warming’s responsible for cooler temperatures and often say it’s going to be sunny when it isn’t.

Besides, my uncle died in a Whalicane

(A Whale-Hurricane is similar to a Sharknado; only the winds are much more intense; and the man-eating sea creatures are mammals, not fish, so it actually makes a lot more sense. Well, more sense than pet rocks; and everybody bought into those!)

Yes, sadly, I saw Uncle Morty get smacked in the head by a whale’s tail, but everyone says it was a fluke

The Shark Hits the Fan Again

Sharknado 2: "Castnado" Behind the Scenes | Syfy

Check out my previous post:

Relive The Magic and Awe! The Tragic and Saw! (Chainsaw, that is.) Or watch it all for the first time, if you missed the premiere on July 30. Sharknado 2: The Second One rages upon New York City again, this Saturday, August 2, 2014 C.E. at 7 pm (Eastern) on the Syfy Channel!

This Saturday
Now this shirt makes sense:

I haven’t seen this phenomenon myself yet, because I promised some close friends we’d watch it together this weekend. We had so much fun watching the first one together that I didn’t want to ruin it by seeing it without them.

And I don’t have cable. Crazy I know. Maybe that’s why I blog.

Sharknado 2: The Second One must have been an amazing thrill ride though, because word on the street, or rather, word on the tweet, is #Sharknado2TheSecondOne garnered over a billion tweets!

Which is awesome, but sadly, I think that’s more than World Peace. Maybe if Ellen would promote World Peace during the next Oscars.

The Second One also skewered more viewers than Halle Berry’s show Extant. Which just goes to show you that categorically speaking, sawing airborne man-eating sharks in half is way cooler than giving birth to a space alien’s baby.

Um, no offense to any space alien babies. Or the lovers thereof. And you know who you are!
